Founded in 2016 in Ōtautahi Christchurch by Jenny Owens, Artful Gardens specialise in selecting plants that are proven performers. Choosing the right plants for the right spots and getting them in the ground the right way saves time, money and energy in the long run.
Our design principles and garden-making process apply to all types of gardens; new builds, renovating existing gardens, lifestyle blocks and commercial sites.

ON-SITE GARDEN
CONSULTATIONS
A visit to your garden, if it is an existing garden needing a makeover we can discuss what to keep, what to prune, what to remove, ways to save costs, a plan of action, plant selection as well as any questions you have. For new gardens we can discuss your vision for your landscape, how it will work with your house plans and suit the architecture etc.
After this consultation service, you will be sent a fully illustrated document of ideas for each garden bed, images and information on plants and materials discussed as well as a list of any relevant recommended retailers and tradespeople if you plan on managing the work yourself.
The cost for this service is $300 and can be done over Facetime if you live outside of Christchurch. Allow an hour for this meeting.

PLANTING PLANS
Once we have completed an on-site consultation and notes, Artful Gardens can prepare a planting plan.
This involves a second visit to the site to take measurements and walk through notes from the initial consultation, make any changes and final plant selections.
Each planting plan is provided as a full colour A3 PDF and a hard copy usually at a 1:100 scale.
From the planting plan you will have all the information you need to make or rework your garden yourself or the information a landscaper needs to price and complete the job for you. You will also have a shopping list of materials and plants to take to retailers if you are purchasing directly.
The cost for this service is $700 plus the initial On-Site Consultation fee. Costs may increase for larger properties.

Project Management Plant And Material Sourcing On-Site Plant Placement Maintenance Schedules
Artful Gardens work with a team of skilled tradespeople who can be called in to do as much or as little of the job that you need help with.
We can manage any part of the garden making process for you, including obtaining quotes, sourcing plants and materials, organising and working alongside contractors and placing plants before planting.
At the end of the garden installation Artful Gardens can recommend a gardener who can shape and maintain your garden as per the plan.
