Founded in 2016 in Ōtautahi Christchurch by Jenny Owens, Artful Gardens specialise in selecting plants that are proven performers. Choosing the right plants for the right spots and getting them in the ground the right way saves time, money and energy in the long run.

Our design principles and garden-making process apply to all types of gardens; new builds, renovating existing gardens, lifestyle blocks and commercial sites.

Services

ON-SITE GARDEN
CONSULTATIONS

A visit to your garden, if it is an existing garden needing a makeover we can discuss what to keep, what to prune, what to remove, ways to save costs, a plan of action, plant selection as well as any questions you have. For new gardens we can discuss your vision for your landscape, how it will work with your house plans, style to suit the architecture etc.

After this consultation service, you will be sent a list of ideas, images and information on plants and materials discussed as well as a list of any relevant recommended retailers and tradespeople if you plan on managing the work yourself.

The cost for this service is $250 and can be done over Facetime if you live outside of Christchurch. Allow an hour for this meeting.

PLANTING PLANS

Following a site visit a full planting plan can be created for your garden, each area of the property will be illustrated and explained in terms of what plant will go where, spacings and how many plants you will need.

From the planting plan you will have all the information you need to make or rework your garden yourself, a list of materials and plants to take to retailers and a plan to give to a landscaper if you would like them to do it for you. Or Artful Gardens can manage the process for you, see additional services below.

The cost for this service is $600 plus the initial On-Site Consultation fee. Cost may increase for larger properties. A planting plan does not include any hard landscaping in the design, this can be done as a part of a full landscape design package, please ask if you are interested in this service.
